Export of 12 million ornamental trees and shrubs from Gilan

Manouchehr Parsafer, in a conversation with reporters before noon on Sunday, referring to the high capacities of Gilan province in the field of ornamental plant production, stated: Gilan has high capacities for the export of this product due to its land, sea and air borders with the Caspian border countries.
He further mentioned the export of ornamental plants from Gilan province and added: 12 million trees, ornamental shrubs and all kinds of houseplants have been exported from the borders of Gilan to Central Asian countries, northern neighbors, Persian Gulf countries and Western Europe.
Parsafer stated that Chabaksar in Rudsar city is considered the hub of flower and plant cultivation in the country, and continued: 33 million trees and flower bushes and houseplants have been produced in this sector.
Pointing out that Gilan is the second flower and plant producing province in the country, he added: There are 838 hectares of outdoor flower gardens in this province, more than 90% of which are in Chabaksar.
The director of horticulture affairs of Gilan Agricultural Jihad, stating that Chabaksar sector earns more than 350 billion rials annually from growing flowers and plants, said: More than five thousand people are engaged in this work in this province of Gilan.
He went on to mention some problems of production and growers of flowers and plants in Gilan province and listed the lack of export as the biggest problem of producers and continued: despite the high capacities in this province, unfortunately, the amount of exports is low in total.
