The director of agricultural jihad of Niriz city announced the planting of papaya seeds for the second time in this city.

Alireza Basiri said: The planting of this crop was done in a greenhouse and on the level of five thousand square meters in June of this year.

According to him, the variety of this plant is Red Lady and when it reaches a height of one meter; It begins to flower and usually 12 months after planting, its first crop is obtained.

He clarified: Papaya, which is known as tree melon in Iran; It is a tropical fruit; It is a dioecious plant and is propagated by seeds, which requires high temperature and humidity; It is similar to mango and sweet, and depending on the conditions, each tree produces 20 to 100 fruits, each weighing 250 to 500 grams.

The Director of Agricultural Jihad of Niriz city reminded: This greenhouse product of the Pacutah Bengal variety, in 2019, bore fruit for the first time in Fars and Niriz and placed this province in the circle of global producers of papaya fruit.

Basiri also added: Melon is a tree native to the tropical regions of America and Mexico and is also grown in India, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Philippines, which was planted in Iran for the first time in the city of Yazd and has many properties such as strengthening the immune system. It is immunity, digestion, vision and blood sugar control.
