With the efforts of Iranian researchers and one of the professors of Swedish University, a new plant species named "Kaftri stone bride" was discovered for the first time in Kaftar village of Eqlid city of Fars province.

A new plant species named Arous Sang Kaftari with the scientific name (Dionysia splendens) was discovered and recorded for the first time in the north of Fars province by the research team of Tehran Azad University of Research Sciences and Uppsala University of Sweden.

Its scientific Latin name means bright and shining, and its Persian name refers to its habitat in the high mountainous areas of the historical village of Kaftar. This plant grows in very limited populations in the rocky heights of 3400 to 3500 meters of Musa Khani mountains located in the south of Euclid city of Fars province.

The results of this research conducted by Dr. Sajjad Alipour (a graduate of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad), Dr. Iraj Mehrgan (Associate Professor of Biology Department of Tehran Azad University of Research Sciences) and Dr. Magnus Leiden (Full Professor of Uppsala University, Sweden) were published in a scientific article by a reputable journal. Botany (EDINBURGH JOURNAL OF BOTANY) has been published.

Also, the researchers of this discovered species say that reasons such as recent droughts, a very small habitat (less than 40 square meters) and a very small population (less than 100 plants) have put this native species at risk of severe extinction, which is expected. Measures should be taken to preserve this species.
