Unprecedented cold and pressure drop and gas cut caused billions worth of damage to greenhouses and chicken farms in South Khorasan.

According to the report of Green Agricultural News, quoted by the Young Journalists Club; The temperature of 16 degrees below zero in the last days of January and the beginning of Bahman damaged the production sector more than anything else, and the drop in gas pressure caused freezing of greenhouse products and damage to poultry farmers.

Temperature below zero degrees is a pest of greenhouses

Although the meteorology had issued a notice to the industries and farmers a week ago about the unprecedented decrease in cold and frost, but in this time interval, many producers did not find the opportunity to supply alternative fuel and prepare dual fuel burners.

In a conversation with our reporter, Mohammadi, one of the greenhouse owners of Khosuf region, said: My greenhouse is 3 hectares, and the drop in temperature caused serious damage to tomatoes, peppers, and saffron.

He added: The temperature below zero degrees and the lack of gas made me unable to provide the required heating for the greenhouse and its products were frozen.

This greenhouse owner complains about the weather and says: I wish we had been informed in advance so that we would have thought about the greenhouse, because greenhouse products cannot be heated with firewood or other means.

One of the greenhouse owners of the province, Mr. Daqeem, says: My greenhouse and many greenhouses in the province have suffered a lot of damage and it is necessary for the authorities to come to work and provide free or low compensation for the damages. pay interest

White diarrhea, a disease that cold killed chickens

In addition to agriculture and greenhouse products, poultry farms in South Khorasan also suffered serious damage from the cold and gas cut, which should not go unnoticed by the authorities.

Some poultry farmers faced problems in providing alternative fuel despite the provision of alternative fuel and even said that the quotas are not enough to heat the environment of the poultry farm.

In this regard, one of the poultry farmers of Sarbisheh city says: The gas of my poultry farm unit has been cut off without coordination for two weeks and we have been searching for alternative fuel with thousands of hardships during this period of time, but unfortunately the fuel was not enough to ensure the temperature of the halls.

He added: "Chickens hatch at 20 days old, and if they do not get the right weather and temperature at this age, most of them will suffer from white diarrhea, and eventually it will cause severe losses and losses to my poultry farm."

Najafi is one of the poultry farmers in Khosf city who owns three poultry houses. He also says: The damage caused by cold and gas cut to my poultry farm was the highest and these damages will show at the end of the chicken breeding period.

Pointing out that we will face a shortage of chicken meat in the market in the future, this poultry farmer added: We ask the authorities to think as soon as possible to provide the fuel needed by poultry farms.

Damage of 434 billion tomans due to cold and frost to the agricultural sector

The head of South Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: Unfortunately, the recent cold and frost caused 434 billion tomans worth of damage to the greenhouses and agricultural and horticultural lands of the province.

Jafari added: This estimate is collected from 7 cities of the province and the damage estimate is delivered to the crisis management of the governorate.

Compensation for frost damage on the follow-up table

The Director General of Crisis Management of South Khorasan Governorate also says: The frost damage in South Khorasan is being estimated and will be announced after detailed investigations.

Akhundi said: Considering the cold weather and the sharp drop in temperature, we were really facing a crisis and the priority for us was to supply domestic gas.

He clarified: The National Oil Products Distribution Company has repeatedly warned industrial and agricultural units in the summer season to think about their winter fuel.

Industries should be ready for crisis conditions

Unprecedented cold and gas cut was unexpected for the producers and caused damage that the provincial officials believe that the industrial owners and producers should have predicted this critical situation in advance.

The deputy of coordination of civil affairs of South Khorasan Governor says: Industries should prepare themselves for critical conditions to avoid cold damages and gas outages.

Abbas Zadeh clarifies: The country's industries have an 8-month contract with the National Gas Company for their energy supply, and this company does not guarantee them gas supply in the last 4 months of the year.

He added: The industries of the province, including factories, poultry farms, greenhouses and trade unions, should make the necessary forecast for providing alternative fuel in 4 months of the year so as not to suffer damage.

Of course, the deputy of coordination of civil affairs of South Khorasan governor also says that industries should not worry about damages and those production units that have suffered damages despite the provision of alternative fuel, if it is determined in the evaluations that the quotas are not enough for heating, the matter will be referred to the crisis management headquarters. The country is announced.

The movement of poultry farms and greenhouses towards insurance and alternative fuel

According to the activity of 444 poultry farms and greenhouses in South Khorasan, the cold and heat every year causes a lot of damage to gardeners, livestock farmers and farmers. In the summer, power outages and in the winter frosts take over the production.

Officials and custodians believe that the basic solution is product insurance and equipping greenhouses and chicken farms with double-burning burners, and they believe that producers should be aware of the harsh cold conditions and prevent damages.

Although the temperature of minus 16 degrees in some areas of the province was unexpected for the producers, but despite the supply of alternative fuel, the quotas were not sufficient to provide heating of the environment and the products froze and the chickens perished.

A crisis that could have been better managed, and for these severe cold conditions, it would have been better if the Oil Products Distribution Company had provided sufficient fuel to the industrial and agricultural units so that these sectors would not suffer heavy losses of billions.
