According to IRNA's reporter, Mohsen Ardestani said on Tuesday in a meeting to examine the problems of Pakdasht's agricultural sector, which was held at the city's governor's office: Pakdasht city, due to its location in a water-scarce region, and despite the shortages of agricultural water, over the past years, It has moved towards greenhouse cultivation and today more than 1,250 hectares of land in this city are managed with greenhouse cultivation.

He stated that the lack of water resources has caused that out of 23 thousand hectares of arable land in Pakdasht city, only 17 thousand hectares of it are under the cultivation of all kinds of crops, gardens and greenhouses, and this is important, the transition from traditional agriculture and moving from open-surface agriculture to It requires the side of the greenhouse.

He added: Cultivation of crops, greenhouses, and flowers in a greenhouse environment increases the efficiency of using available water, the fight against pests and plant diseases is managed, and by increasing the amount of employment and reducing production costs, agriculture becomes economical and economical. .

Ardestani stated: The largest amount of greenhouse cultivation in Pakdasht city is related to flowers and plants, therefore, Pakdasht is the flower and plant capital of the country and more than 15 thousand people are directly employed in this area.

He declared the completion of the second phase of the important plan to transfer treated sewage from south of Tehran to Varamin and Pakdasht plains as the main factor in solving the water shortage problem in the region and added: with the efforts of the 13th government and during the president's visit to the implementation site of this project, the speed of implementation of the second phase of the transfer The treated sewage in the south of Tehran has increased, and with its completion, a significant amount of water will be allocated to the agricultural lands of Pakdasht.

Pakdasht governor, referring to the president's visit to this city and emphasizing the need to develop the tourism industry in the flower and vegetable area, said: Pakdasht agriculture and greenhouses, in addition to producing agricultural products and creating direct job opportunities in this area, also play a significant role in the development of the tourism industry. and the residents of different regions of Tehran province and travelers from the eastern provinces of the country and especially pilgrims of Imam Reza's shrine can spend a good time visiting the unique greenhouses of Pakdasht flowers and plants.

Pakdasht with a population of 350,000 is located 25 kilometers southeast of Tehran.
