Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad: Our advantage to compete with the world is the agricultural sector / irrigation efficiency is very low

The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad said: It is expected that we will see a 30% jump in wheat production in the country in the current crop year.

Shahpour Alaie Moghadam stated: In the current crop year, thanks to the grace of God and the favorable climatic conditions and the efforts made, it is expected that we will see a jump of about 30% in the production of wheat in the country.

He said that the increase in the country's wheat production depended on the care and protection of fields from pests, diseases and weeds.

He said: Continuous efforts are being made in the Agriculture Commission of the Islamic Council and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad to improve the purchase price of wheat.

This responsible official stated that agriculture in our country faces many limitations from accidents and disasters to dry climate, lack of rains and lack of water, adding: the average rainfall in the world is about 860 mm, but in our country the average rainfall is about It has reached about 230 mm.

According to him, on the subject of borrowing agricultural loans, the necessary reports will be prepared and submitted to the country's crisis headquarters and the Cabinet of Ministers, so that if a region has low average rainfall or is likely to suffer frostbite, we can follow up on borrowing bank facilities for farmers.

Pointing out that our advantage to compete with the world is the agricultural sector, he clarified: Today, 125 million tons of agricultural products are produced by farmers, which is a very big task considering the limited resources.

Referring to the statements of the Supreme Leader that food security is the main issue of the country, in the sense that the agricultural field is preferable to all sectors, the Deputy Minister of Jihad of Agriculture stated: We do not use the available water efficiently, which means that water productivity and irrigation efficiency are very low. Is. If we increase our irrigation average from 35 to 50%, the production of agricultural products will increase from 125 million tons to 140, and this means that the country's food security and authority will increase.
