Khuzestan is the third hub of flower and ornamental plants production in the country
Ahvaz- Director of Horticulture of Khuzestan Agricultural Jihad said: Khuzestan has won the third place in the total cultivation levels of ornamental plants in the country.
According to Mehr reporter, Mohammad Hosni Nesab said in a media interview while celebrating National Flower and Plant Day: Khuzestan, with its diverse and suitable climate for the production of all kinds of ornamental plants, is considered one of the important hubs of production and one of the centers of genetic reserves of ornamental plants in the country.
He added: Every year, 123 million branches of cut flowers and vases, all kinds of ornamental plants, roses, maryam, narcissus, chrysanthemums, lisianthus, gladioli, lilium, iris, and ornamental apartment plants such as azaleas, gerbera, henna, begonias, tulips, and all kinds of leafy and shrubby plants are produced in Khuzestan.
Hosni Nesab stated that the cultivation of the mentioned plants is carried out in 465 hectares of open space and greenhouses, and said: Khuzestan is one of the most important areas for the production of ornamental plants in the country.
Horticulture Director of Khuzestan Agricultural Jihad stated: The number of producers of ornamental plants in Khuzestan is 209, which has provided direct and indirect employment for more than 2 thousand people.
He pointed to the export of flowers and ornamental plants in Khuzestan and said: exporting part of the products produced in Khuzestan will help the country to earn foreign currency. Dezful, Behbahan and Andimeshk are the most important cities producing ornamental plants in Khuzestan.
