The Deputy Minister of Agriculture Affairs of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad said: 6 million hectares out of 12 million hectares of agricultural land are dedicated to the cultivation of drylands.
According to Mehr reporter, Alireza Mohajer, the deputy of agriculture affairs of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, said at the meeting of the National Plan for the Cultivation of Wetlands: Iran is located in the arid belt.
He stated: There are more than 18 million hectares of arable land in the country, of which 12 million hectares are related to agriculture, and 6 million hectares of these lands are related to rainfed cultivation, in which beans, wheat, fodder, etc. are cultivated. will be
He added: The indicators for rainfed cultivation in the lands were the amount of rainfall to economically cover the costs of the crops planted.
This official in charge of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad continued: In areas where the rainfall is below 250 mm, there is no economic justification for rainfed cultivation.
Referring to the speed of soil erosion in the country, Mohajer said: So far, 1,400,000 hectares of cultivated lands have been insured and changes have been made in the use of agricultural tools to prevent soil erosion.
In further explanation, he said: operators with basic plows should do the work by using deep plows to prevent excessive movement of the tractor; In this way, it is plowed, seed is planted and seed is covered in one step. This was one of the achievements of the national plan to cultivate wetlands in the country.
