According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture, Peyman Hasadi, the manager of the sugar plant project, while emphasizing the need to review, modify and increase the price of sugar beet at this critical juncture, stated: following the increase in production costs and subsequent follow-ups, as well as the repeated requests of farmers And the beet growers, based on the need to increase the price of sugar beet, we are trying to correct and increase the price of sugar beet in accordance with the rising trend of production costs and the rise in the price of other competing products.

He emphasized on the role and place of domestic sugar production in promoting food security and preventing foreign exchange from leaving the country and expressed hope: with the follow-up and actions taken, the price of sugar and subsequently the price of sugar beet will be corrected and increased in proportion to its cost price. In the next year, sugar beet farmers and contractors will not suffer if they cultivate this crop, and they will enjoy a good profit margin compared to the cultivation of other crops.

Regarding the cultivated area and the amount of spring and autumn sugar beet production, Hesadi said: This year, more than 92 thousand hectares of spring sugar beet were planted in the country, and more than 5370 thousand tons of sugar beet were produced from this area, and more than 21 thousand hectares of autumn sugar beet were planted and more It was produced from 1,440,000 tons of sugar beet and delivered to sugar factories all over the country for processing and extracting sugar.

The manager of the sugar plants project noted that, this year, nearly 4 million tons of straw have been harvested from the approximately 85,000 hectares of harvestable sugarcane, and it is expected that this amount will increase to 5.5 million tons by the end of the harvest.

According to him, this year, in total, about 1.5 million tons of sugar beet and sugarcane have been produced and supplied inside the country.

Hesadi expressed hope; By correcting the price of sugar and sugar beet in the current crop year, more than 114 thousand hectares of spring and autumn sugar beet will be planted in the country, and including harvestable sugarcane, more than 1.5 million tons of sugar will be produced in the country.
